The Met and Harold night w. Mimi

I'm about to drift off into sleep. Just wanted to say that the Met (Metropolitan museum) was AMAZING!
And Harold Night at UCB was so much fun.
Gonna write more when I'm on my netbook. Writing this on my iPhone, which takes time.

All right, it's 11:30pm and I'm sleepy, so... nighty night :-)

Museum of Natural History + Central Park

I mean, I was there when he Belvedered...

6:45pm
Today I went to the museum of natural history. The ride there from 96th street was a bit... weird. I took the advice of an iPhone app. BIG mistake.  Wound up at Yankee Stadium. Was a very weird trip, but well worth it. I went straight for the underwater excibit. Wow. Just wow. Y'know? I was flabbergasted. Literally. I think. Not sure what flabbergasted means. But that place is pretty awesome! Took lots of photos. You should check out my facebook page (facebook.com/fittan). Then, I walked through central park (from west entrance to the east. Went to Belvedere Castle. So beautiful. I love Central Park. Saw a raccoon. And then a squirrel. Neato!!!

I've had a blast at Jersey Dave's. Everyone who lives here is awesome! I feel truly blessed. <3
Next stop: Julia's.

Downtown.

Post-Asssscat 3000

Such a great show!!!
Improv is amazing!

Nick Feitel (aka the man behind the plant) stopped by while we were waiting in line for the 9.30 show. He brought donuts for everyone and I got to pick his brain about politics. Such an interesting guy!

Chris Gethard was performing; got to meet him for the first time. Exciting!!!

Btw. waiting in line with Amber was a blast. Who knew sitting on a sidewalk for 3 hours could be this much fun!? Me and Amber really hit it off.

Got to meet a bunch of TCGS fans ^_^

Post-Asssscat. Very happy.

Night.

Pre-Asssscat 3000

Woke up early in a bed that was rediculously comfy. Sat on the balcony and chatted with Melanie for a bit. She's nice :-)
The weather is fantastic.

Felt a bit sticky. High humidity. Yeah, not used to that but I had a shower so it's all good now. Made some tea. Yeah I brought tea. Such an addict... Melanie said "skål" (cheers). I was impressed.
Played Settlers of Catan with the gang. I lost. BIG TIME! Was fun though.
Marked my locations on a huge subway map that Dave gave me.

(me & Jersey Dave)

Going to see an improv show tonight. It's the first time. Stoked.

Here's the wall that everyone drew on yesterday:

I love the penis. Also, I love the drawing.

NintendoWorld + veggie bbq

Today was another busy day. Started off taking an early walk down 44th. I had a 6 inch sub w veggie patty. Made me feel a bit bleh, but it was good.

I went to the NintendoWorld store with Jean.

They had a playable demo of Super Mario 3D World and a LOT of other awesome stuff.

Pika Pika
Lots of stuff. 2 floors.
PikaCHUUUU!!!

I'm definately gonna re-visit that store later during my trip.

Then I went to Jersey Daves swingin' pad, where an awesome veggie bbq took place. I got to meet and hang out with a lot of the cast and crew (and fans) of the Chris Gethard Show. Awesome!

Me & the world's greatest dancer; Rob Malone

TCGS all-stars!!! <3

Me & Bethany (she likes fun) :-)

Me & Beef Jerky ;-)

I had a GREAT time.
Everyone was super cool.

Seems like I'll be stayin' at Dave's for 2 nights instead of 1. That's cool.

Moma & Farmers Market

Went to the museum of modern art.
It was amazing.

Then I rode a bike from Times Square to the Farmer's Market.
It was terrifying.

(me, at "Fika")

Now I'm feeling tired.
Gonna have a nap.
Kisses!

Random photos

This is Jean. She picked me up at the airport and is letting me stay at her place. That's so nice of her <3
Melissa and Andrew stopped by. Fun fun fun!!!

First morning

Just woke up. Feelin' groggy.
The time is 7.30. I don't know what's happening today, which is gonna be a running theme for this trip.
Just look at how comfy Jean's bed is...

I'm finally here!

It's 7pm (11pm sweden time) on the 13th of june, 2013.
I'm in New York.

Trip went smoothly. I chose to wait a looong time for the airport bus. Did not get any sleep prior to departure, so I spent most of the trip sleeping. Brussels Airlines takes good care of their passagers. I got veggie meals and the in-flight entertainment was pretty good, so I'm happy. I hope the people working there are being paid what they deserve though (probably not). While descending upon New York, I listened to some soothing sounds of the airforest, accompanied by the sound of the gentleman in the seat behind mine, vomiting his face off. It was a bumpy landing.

Jean met me at the airport and boy was she a sight for sore eyes. We took the airbus and subway back to her place. She's so nice. This city is scary. I've had a shower, so now I feel like myself again. Ish. My head is still messed up from the jetlag.

Anyway, so I'm all good. Gonna post photos at a later time.
This is Stellan, from Jean's apartment, signing out.
peace

New York, New York

Start spreading the news
I am leaving today (ish)
I want to be a part of it
New York, New York

The tram to the central station leaves in just... 6 ½ hours.
At 04.30. Geez. I won't be able to sleep.
I'm too excited and/or nervous. Hard to tell which really...

I've felt tingly all day. I both love and hate this feeling.
A lot of "...but what if" thoughts are going through my head. Stupid thoughts.

The bus to the airport leaves at 5am and arrives at 5.30.
That gives me 1 hours and 30 minutes to check my luggage and find the gate.
That's enough time, right?

It's either that, or a 2 hour wait at the central station.
Is it worth it? Oh, I just don't know...

Hmm...

Then, from the airport, I'll fly to Brussels.
The plane takes off at 06.55 and arrives in Brussels at around 08.30.

And then from Brussels, it's straight to New York!
That plane leaves at 10.25 and will be in New York 12.40...
I will be going back in time. Ish.

I've packed everything. I hope.
Clothes; check!
Toiletries; check!
Passport; double check!
Not gonna go through the entire list.

I'm sure I'm gonna be fine.
No I'm not.
Yes I am.

Oh well. Here goes...

Anything GOES

I've applied for a trusted traveler membership.
https://goes-app.cbp.dhs.gov/main/goes
It's currently pending review.
My guess is; it won't be reviewed and approved until after I arrive in the US.
$25 well spent ;-)

One week...

I am nervous as hell.
What if I miss my flight?
What if I make a bad impression?
What if I get sick?
What if... ?

What to bring

I'm thinking about what I'll need to pack.
I will be gone for 17+ days, but since I'll be going from door to door, I don't want to over-pack.
Passport. Travel documents. Towel. 1 ½ weeks worth of clothes. Travel charger. Netbook. Phone. USB charger. My copy of "A Bad Idea..." to get signed. Hmm... what else?

OK, so here's the deal...

I've decided to chronicle my trip to New York in this here blog. Yes I have.
Oh, and if you don't know who I am; I'm Stellan from Sweden
(That weird looking nerdy gay pinko commie manchild who is cuddly and nice).
If you've seen the Chris Gethard Show, you might have heard my voice. I sometimes call in.

Anyway, this blog; the one you're currently reading (How Stellan got his groove back) is the place where I will tell you guys how I am doing and what I'm up to in The Big Apple.
This is my first time visiting New York. It's pretty exciting. And I'm really scared. In a good way.
I will be posting photos and videos from my trip regularely (or as often as I have WiFi access and some time to kill), so stay tuned!

I will arrive in New York on June 13th and stay until the 30th.

Here's the fun part:
I will be living with a different person each day
(or rather they kan keep me as their Swedish pet for a day).

Why?

Because I'm on a tight budget, and meeting interesting new people is fun (and free ^_^).

You can check out the list of people I will be staying with here:

So check back in about a month.
Until then; Lose Well and keep it Calsteady ∆
